STAT Plus: A drug maker resigns from the industry trade group ahead of by-law changes



allinckrodt, a little-known drug maker that made headlines recently for various scandals, has resigned from the largest pharmaceutical industry trade group, which is planning steps to convince the public that its members are devoted to research activities.

The move comes as the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America tries to respond to ongoing controversy over pricing. The trade group is undergoing what it called a “comprehensive review” of membership criteria in hopes of dispelling criticism that drug makers are price gouging.
